Today the new hands arrived from Moscow. The flight was early and the Tupolev flew straight and true to the refurbished airport in Baikonur town. Floating along gave a moment of dreaming……
Actually it is the lady of the harp at the Metropol hotel who soothes the nerves of busy business travelers. The Russian breakfast is an event not to miss….unless you have a Tupolev to catch!
But there was a compensation on arriving at the Cosmos Hotel in Baikonur. A beautiful dreamy 1st of March Cosmoscake!
This will be the last time we see ExoMars standing vertically. Soon it will be turned horizontal and covered with the rocket fairing so it will no longer be visible.
It has been a long road to this point starting with the original programme approval in 2006. The design of the TGO and EDM started in earnest about 2009 and after many twists and turns along the way it finally is ready to launch about 6 years later. Seems to support the famous old saying……..
